Read and Feed Edison Elementary School is
a National Awarded Blue Ribbon School. We are an urban elementary school
located at 1921 East Lake Road, Erie, PA Our enrollment of 325 includes a
diverse population of students from grades kindergarten to grade 5. The
children are instructed by a staff of dedicated professionals. The lives of our
students are enriched through the PTA activities during the school year.
Edison is a Paideia “Theme School”. Paideia is based on Mortimer Adler’s
“Educational Manifesto”. The Paideia model emphasizes
high academic standards for all students along with high performance and
expectations for all staff. The theory consists of coach projects, seminars and
didactic instruction.
Edison enjoys an active Adopt-A-School program with our neighborhood agencies.
Our partners include the Erie Housing Authority, WSEE, Wendy’s,
GE Volunteers and 4H Club.
Student Activities and After-School Programs include:
Junior Achievement, GAPS, Lego League, CHAMPS, GE Readers, YMCA, Dr. Seuss Day,
Bible Club, Honor Roll, Girl Scouts, Perfect Attendance, 4H Club, Paideia Seminars, Basketball, Field Day, Intramurals,
Bullying Program, Food Bank, Community Day, Reflections and Level Rewards
Program.
