| OPEN HOUSE | In September, Open House provides an opportunity for parents, students and faculty members to get acquainted with each other. At this time, PTA provides an overview of the yearly school events. Fundraising sponsors take this opportunity to introduce the products for sale. Parents can sample the products their children will be selling. |
| BOOK FAIR | Beginning on Open House night and lasting one week, the Scholastic Co. Book Fair provides parents and students the opportunity to purchase books and other reading materials. |
| MEMBERSHIP DRIVE | Each year the committee
chooses a new theme for the membership drive. This encouraged more children
to have their parents sign up. The classroom with the most memberships
is awarded a pizza party.
We are proud to announce we have 100% faculty membership! They will be receiving the "Acorn Award" at the end of the year banquet held in May. |
| PUBLICITY | Edison PTA makes posters, fliers, and programs for events to be held throughout the year. The media is also contacted for special Edison events. |
| HISTORIAN | This committee creates scrapbooks and collages of newspaper clippings, programs, and pictures to be displayed for Open House, Founder's Day and the PTA hallway. |
| KINDERGARTEN TEA | In September, the Kindergarten teachers, school principal, and parents meet to discuss and reinforce the importance of parental involvement with the school and their children's education. A skills checklist and booklet of at-home activities to reinforce the Kindergarten curriculum is given to parents. |
| ELECTION DAY BAKE SALE | Edison School is the neighborhood designated area for voting in November and May. May volunteers make baked goods for the sale. Many of our voters stop in to vote before work and purchase our baked goods. |
| KIDS NEED A BREAK, TOO | The Edison PTA sponsors a Fall and Spring skating party as a reward for consistent good behavior of the students. Bussing and chaperones are provided. Teachers also participate. |
| SECRET SANTA SHOP | This week long program provides students the opportunity to shop for their family members for the holidays. A selection of gifts at affordable prices are prepurchased for resale. |
| BREAKFAST WITH SANTA | On a Saturday morning in December, Breakfast with Santa is an activity which includes a D.J., arts and crafts, face painting, a Chinese auction and ofcourse, a visit from Santa. Breakfast includes a catered assortment of hot foods along with beverages. |
| FOUNDER'S DAY | In February, a special celebration is held in honor of former PTA presidents. Edison students perform songs and read poems. Refreshments are served along with small tokens of appreciation. Our oldest former PTA president, 80 years young, still attends and is actively involved. |
| HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES | Edison PTA provides a treat for each holiday. Students receive small bags of chips, pencils, school logo coin holders and other treats along with activities. |
| FAMILY DANCE | In April, parents and children spend quality time together and parents are able to interact with each other. Music, refreshments, a dance contest and a Chinese auction are some of the highlights. |
| VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION | In May, all volunteers
are thanked for their many hours of work with a luncheon, door prizes,
and surprise guests.
*Volunteers assist the principal and teachers on an as needed basis with programs, fieldtrips and any special school events. |
| TEACHER APPRECIATION | The teachers and staff are recognized at this time with a dinner and small gifts. PTA chosen teacher of the year and retiring teachers are acknowledged for all their hard work and dedication. |

General Mills cereal box tops are collected for 15 cents per top. a $50
bonus for every 750 received.
CAMPBELL'S SOUP LABELS- Collected until March 1st these labels can be redeemed for school equipment including art, gym, and music supplies. GIANT EAGLE RECEIPTS- Register receipts are collected until March 1st and is initiated again in October. Computer equipment can be acquired with certain amounts in receipts. |
| FIELD DAY | PTA assists the gym teacher with five activity stations for the students. PTA provides refreshments and freezer pop treats. |
| KINDERGARTEN / FIFTH GRADE GRADUATION | In June, refreshments for students and parents are provided along with assisting teachers with the program. |
