A giraffe is the tallest and biggest ruminant mammal. They have common names. There are only two members of a giraffidae.
Males are taller then females. Males are 5 ft tall. Females are 4 ft. Giraffes have horns behind there ears. Sometimes you can't really see them. The horns are 5 inches tall. You can tell a female from a male. The males have black spots and females have brown spots.
Giraffes live on the continent of Africa. They came from the Savanna, South of the dessert. You could once find them in West Africa and Kalahari. Giraffes also used to live in the rain forest.
They are the biggest ruminant mammal. Ruminant means that a cow or giraffe chews something and then throws it up and eats it again. Giraffes are the tallest animal on earth, but not the biggest animal.
