Emerson-Gridley Elementary School

Our building is located at 816 Park Avenue North in Erie, Pennsylvania. Our skyline towers north to the shores of Lake Erie and south to pretty Gridley Park. We sit in the center of an urban neighborhood with both single and multiple family homes. Since Emerson-Gridley is a neighborhood school, all of our students can walk and remain close to their homes. Our school families represent many diverse cultures and ethnic groups. An analysis of our student population has sixty percent (60%) Caucasian, thirty-three percent (33%) African-American, five percent (5%) Hispanic and the remaining two percent (2%) represents other ethnic groups.

This northwest Erie elementary school has an extended staff of sixty professional, semi-professional, maintenance and service personnel. Our dedicated faculty provides a safe, structured and supportive learning environment for each child. The curriculum content includes reading, mathematics, science, English, social studies and a special focus on writing.

Emerson-Gridley is a Thematic school. Our school-wide effort is to teach writing skills and integrate writing activities into all content areas for kindergarten through sixth grade students. This writing emphasis recognizes our students as pacesetters in the academic community.
