    Introduction
    Digital Media is an instructional program that prepares individuals to communicate dramatic information, ideas, moods and feelings through the making and producing of films and videos. This program includes instruction in film theory, film technology and equipment operation, film production, film directing, film editing, cinematographic art, film audio, techniques for making specific types of films and/or videos, media technologies, computer image making, multi-media production and the planning and management of film/video operations.

    The mission of the Digital Media class is to prepare students for success in college, in the work place, and in life by providing a challenging academic program focusing on the development of exceptional skills in communications. Upon graduation, the students will be presented with a certificate from School District of the City of Erie. This course has a focus on communications while enhancing state standards in the respective areas through the use of video projects, photography, advertising and public relation techniques. The digital media program prepares individuals to communicate dramatic information, ideas, moods, and feelings through the making and producing of films and videos. Includes instruction in theory of film, film technology and equipment operation, film production, film directing, film editing, cinematographic art, film audio, techniques for making specific types of films and/or videos, media technologies, computer image making, multi-media production, and the planning and management of film/video operations.
     

    Requirements


    Students will be required to complete several major video projects each term. These may include ENG (single camera) or EFP (multiple camera) shoots, audio and lighting set-up for shows, script writing and studio production. Project work often must take place outside of class time and will involve some afternoon, evening, or weekend work. Failure to show for a scheduled shoot will result in a zero for that grade.
