ART Music Education in Erie's Public Schools

Erie's Public Schools believe that arts education - visual, music, and theater - is an important educational experience. The school system also benefits from a number partnerships and community programs that enhance arts instruction throughout the district. By participating in the arts, Erie students learn the value of creative expression, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and learn valuable communications skills.

Erie's Public Schools provide a variety of opportunities for students to participate in the arts:

  • Visual Arts: a spatial art form that satisfies the human need to respond to life experiences through images, structures and tactile works.
  • Music: an aural art form that satisfies the human need to respond to life experiences through singing, listening and/or playing an instrument.
  • Theatre: is an interdisciplinary art form that satisfies the human need to express thoughts and feelings through written text, dramatic interpretation and multimedia production.
