Welcome to Emerson-Gridley Elementary School

Our building is located at 816 Park Avenue North in Erie, Pennsylvania. Our skyline towers north to the shores of Lake Erie and south to pretty Gridley Park. We sit in the center of an urban neighborhood with both single and multiple family homes. Since Emerson-Gridley is a neighborhood school, most of our students can walk and remain close to their homes. With the changes of boundaries in 2012-13, some of our students are provided school transportation.  Our school families represent many diverse cultures and ethnic groups.

This northwest Erie elementary school has an extended staff of sixty professional, semi-professional, maintenance and service personnel. Our dedicated faculty provides a safe, structured and supportive learning environment for each child. The curriculum content includes Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and a special focus on writing.

Children may enter the school at 8:00 a.m.  Students are tardy after 8:20 a.m., and must receive a tardy slip at the office if they enter school after that time.  Our district participates in 'Breakfast in the Classroom'; students eat their breakfast in their homerooms between 8:00 and 8:30.  Breakfast can also be provided to tardy students.

Special Help is offered by each teacher at least one day a week after school from 2:30 p.m. - 3:10 p.m.  We encourage students to attend this program to have more individualized help if they have been absent or are having difficulty in a subject area.

Good attendance is a hallmark to a strong and positive educational experience.  Please be in contact with our office if your child will be absent for a length of time, and remember to write a parent excuse when they are absent.  Our assistant principal, Mr. Gudowski, is your attendance contact person.

Students have the opportunity to participate in many activities at Emerson-Gridley.  These include Honors Assemblies, Anti-Bullying lessons, Music Concerts, Guest Speakers, Intramural Programs (Gr. 5 and 6), Gearing Up (Gr. 3 - 5), Patrols (Gr. 6), and Field Trips.  Our Music Concerts, Fall Book Fair Parent Luncheon, and Fall Fest also encourage our parents and guardians to come to school and join their child in a fun experience.
