| Composers and Musicians |
The Composers Committee put words to music
using rhythm, chords, and melody. They consider the spirit of the
circumstance and decide if the music should be serious, humorous, silly,
sad, or just functional. They also consider what instruments may be
used for certain sound effects.
|
| Costumes | The Costume Committee designs and sews the
costumes. They also learn to measure and fit the actors.
|
| Make-up | The Make-up Committee is responsible for
altering actors' appearances so that their features are visible to the
audience. Make-up application can be natural, futuristic,
dramatic, culturally specific, or it may be used to show special effects
such as aging a character to fit his or her role.
|
| Performers | Character analysis, memorization of lines,
blocking, staging and preparing for the performance are all integral
parts of what we do as performers. Other things such as matching
character to costume, set, and audience are also important.
|
| Props | The Props Department is responsible for
building the sets and finding and making props for the Opera. They
work closely with the Set Design
Committee to create the sets needed.
|
| Public Relations | The Public Relations Committee designs the
invitations and playbill for the Opera. They hold contests, make
posters, and make banners to publicize the Opera.
|
| Set Design | The Set Design Committee draws
sketches of the sets after reading the script and
with the carpenter's assistance constructs the sets.
|
| Lighting, Sound, and Special Effects |
The Special Effects Committee designs visual
and auditory effects or props for use in the Opera. Special
Effects include fog machines, confetti launchers, appearing or changing
sets, spinning basketballs, and magical tool boxes that open "by
themselves".
|
| Stage Crew | The Stage Crew is responsible for all
lighting and sounds operations, for the theater arrangement of props,
curtains, seating layout, and for overall safety and comfort operations.
|
| Writers | The Writing Committee creates the story for
the Opera. They spend a great deal of the time brainstorming
before the actual writing. Just like any writing process to create
the final script it is a lot of hard work and creative thinking.
Everyone on the Committee participates one way or another.
