| Erie Insurance Group | Erie Insurance adopted Pfeiffer-Burleigh in 1989 as a part of the Erie Area Chamber of Commerce Adopt-A-School Program. The program includes tutors from EI, pen pals, and awards ceremonies. EI also helped PB to build a new playground and expand their library. | |
| General Electric | The College Bound Program is a grant totaling $250,000 over three years designed to encourage children to pursue a college education. It includes East High School, Wayne Middle School, and Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School. The grant money is used for staff development, incentives, and wide range of other programs. | |
| Erie Family Center | 874-6990 | In-home child development education, parent support and information groups, fatherhood initiative programs, after-school programs, technology centers, information concerning finding employment, adult education and family literacy programs. Transportation and child care provided. Bilingual caseworker available to serve Spanish-speaking families. |
| WQLN | Turn On To Literacy is a four week session designed to influence children to read more. it teaches parents how children learn and includes involvement form various people in the community. Families that attend will eceive one free book each month for one year. Children also receive a free mebership to the WQLN Kids Club. | |
| Neighborhood Art House | 455-5508 | The Neighborhood Art House provides free lesson in the visual, performing and literary arts to over 800 inner city children each year during after school hours, through the summer and on Saturdays. Tutoring and a one-on-one reading program are also available. |
| Kids Cafe | 878-2992 | Sister Gus’ Kids Café provides a home cooked meal and recreational opportunities to 100 children a day. |
| Boys and Girls Clubs | 452-4521 | Recreational activities for youth, ages 6 - 18 |
