Erie Insurance Tutoring Program

A unique aspect of our Adopt-A-School partnership with Erie Insurance is the tutoring program. Each Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:00 thirty employees from Erie Insurance come to Pfeiffer-Burleigh to work with thirty students. This is an ongoing program that runs from October to May. Many times the students and their tutors develop a close bond and keep in touch during the summer. The company permits the tutors to give a portion of their lunch time to tutor the students and contributes the remaining time as work release for the program.

There is a "Get Acquainted" meeting for tutors and teachers at school before actual tutoring begins. The teachers familiarize the tutors about the students and the lay-out of the building while enjoying cookies and punch.
