Science

                         The courses required at Roosevelt Middle School in the science department are General Science,

                        Life Science, and Physical Science..

                            The goal of the science department is to have all students:
                            1. Become familiar with the natural world and respect its unity.
                            2.Be aware of the importance of math, technology, and the sciences depending on one another.
                            3. Understand some of the key concepts and principles of science.
                            4. Have a capacity for scientific ways of thinking.
                            5.Be able to use scientific knowledge and ways of thinking for personal and social purposes.
 

                                                                    Social Studies

The Social Studies Department includes in Grade 7 the focus is on world geography. This includes the study of the economy, cultures, and land
features of the people in the western hemisphere. American History is the curriculum studied in the 8th grade. This
curriculum traces the people and culture of the early inhabitants of the early American continent with emphasis
upon European exploration, settlement and creation of the United States.

Projects required by the Social Studies department:

                       Grade 7

• Research projects about the people, culture, history and geography of a country in Central America, SouthAmerica or the Caribbean
• Research projects on a state of the United States or Canadian province
• Creation of a travel brochure

• Written and oral reports on "We the People"(a study on the Constitution) and Civil War personalities
• Research projects about historical and contemporary African Americans
