    In Grade 7, students solved real‐world problems involving surface area and volume of prisms and pyramids. In this unit, those understandings are extended to include problem solving with cylinders, cones, and spheres.
    Unit Objectives:
     
    By the end of Unit 2A, all students will be able to:
    • Explain the volume formula for a sphere as it relates to a right circular cylinder with the same diameter and height.
    • Apply the formula for the volume of a sphere to real-world and mathematical problems.

    CC.2.3.8.A.1 Apply the concepts of volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres to solve real-world and mathematical problems.

    M08.C-G.3.1.1 Apply formulas for the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
