• Hi!

On Monday, April 20th, we are all moving to mandatory online instruction. In order to do this better, we will be transitioning to Google Classroom instead of this site.

Using your school district email and password, go to Google Classroom, sign in, and use my special code to join:

    A1: lpbuq22

    A2: t2bf32r

It is very important that you do this right away to ensure there are no issues.

  • Hi everyone!

The teachers have been getting instruction the last couple of days about what to do with grades moving forward. I'm not sure how much of that info has been sent out to you and your parents, but I want to at least inform you about 3rd quarter.

We had a sightsinging assessment due March 13th, the last day we were in school. I've had a chance to go through and check off those who have submitted it. Because it was due just before our shutdown happened, I am giving full points for all that submitted it and exempting the rest. What this means is that if you did it, it's a boost to you grade. If you didn't do it, then your grade stays the same. I will then listen to those submitted examples, fill out a rubric, and send it to you with feedback. The grade on the rubric will be an indictator of what you need to work on; again, you will receive full points in the grade book. If you need a boost in your grade, feel free to submit it to me. All 3rd quarter assignments are due by April 19th.

April 20th starts the 4th quarter. We are working on what that will look like for you guys now and will update you as we finish up what we'll do for the the last six weeks or so of school. This is new for all of us, so we're experimenting and trying to figure out how to teach you in less than ideal circumstances.

I miss singing with you guys! Hang in there! We'll talk soon.

  • Hello! I hope you are adjusting well to this new schedule. I want to address many questions in this annoucement.

    1) The sightsinging test: Many of you have sent them to me. Thank you! I understand the world went topsy turvey Friday afternoon and it may have slipped your mind to have sent it. That's ok! You may still send it to me over the course of the next two weeks. I will still be grading this, because it was assigned and set to be due before the shut down began. I will take the next couple weeks to grade them as they come in.

    A Major Scale

Here is the scale and starting note to get you started. Practice it and use it to get ready to sing the example. The starting pitch of the example is Do.

    Sightsinging Example

Here is the example in case you don't have the paper in front of you.

    2) Hopefully you were able to grab your folder on the way out on Friday. Use the recordings you already have to strengthen your part. I will be adding more files over the next couple of days, including parts I may not have recordered previously, parts together, and accompaniments. Please be patient as I begin to add those.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out on Remind or at my email, ckern@eriesd.org.
