This week you will have a challenge to prepare for the Google Classrooms instruction on 4/20/20. The student that completes the most gizmos with correct answers this week will win a $15 gift card to Amazon. Keep trying as I will keep checking and resetting or tallying correct responses.
Please check your school email and log into my google classrooms using this class code
Class code: o5g3lubALL STUDENTS NEED TO LOG INTO THEIR SCHOOL EMAIL ACCOUNTS TO GET THEIR CLASS CODE, USER NAME AND PASS WORD TO LOG INTO GIZMO'S
ALL STUDENTS ARE TO ATTEMPT THREE GIZMO SIMULATIONS A DAY UNTIL THEY PASS ALL OF THEM. I CHECK NUMEROUS TIMES DURING THE DAY AND KEEP THE PASSING SCORES AND RESET THE FAILURES. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS PLEASE EMAIL ME.
Please complete this year book survey

Welcome!
Posted by; Mr. Boesch
Greetings!
I hope everyone is able to access a computer and reach the website : www.explorelearning.com for science class with GIZMO's! GIZMOS are research-based interactive math and science simulations!
I will be assigning GIZMOs that relate to content we are covering in class to enhance student learning.
Students will earn points based off their participation with GIZMO assessments and assignments. If you have any questions, please email me at rboesch@eriesd.org
Monday - Friday from 8:00 - 3:00 p.m. and I will get back to you ASAP.
(Online learning will officially begin on MONDAY March 23rd, but it is encouraged to start early if you are able to. Those that will start on Monday the 23rd will not be docked points or lose value.)
For the weekS of 4/06/2020 - 4/20/2020, I am asking you to please complete the three Gizmos per day. I will see your score and reset it if you do not pass with a 70%. When you complete your gizmo, please journal each day. Check under the tab where I have "ADDITIONAL E-ASSIGNMENTS" and Email me with questions and observations! There are a list of experiments to do from home (with an adult) to practice the steps of the Scientific Method.
Check it out and email me!-
HINTS FOR SUCCESS:
Take your time with the Gizmo.
Read the assessment questions before playing with the Gizmo!
Read the assessment questions while playing with the Gizmo!
I have also included articles to read each day and journaling ideas if you are feeling well enough to venture outdoors with your parent or guardian.

GIZMO assessments
Posted by: Mr. BoeschGizmos are captivating online simulations of key science concepts produced by ExploreLearning. Each Gizmo enhances student comprehension of challenging concepts through inquiry and exploration. Students manipulate variables, observe the virtual results, and draw conclusions.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A GIZMO LOOKS LIKE FOR YOUR CHILD:
At the end of each student-controlled simulation is a 5 question assessment. Students have the ability to go back into the GIZMO to review topics prior to selecting an answer choice.

Building a Cell
Here are some instructions on how to cheaply make a plant cell from home. If you do not have materials, do not go out and purchase any. This is only if you happen to have a shoe box laying around and materials that a parent allows you to build with.
Do not worry. This is an extension project as of right now to build on and use what we have learned in class.

Parts of a Flower
From Seed to Flower - video
In this interactive activity adapted from the University of Alberta, explore various stages in the life cycle of a flowering seed plant, including zygote, embryo, seed, germination, maturity, and pollination. Play an interactive game that illustrates the different functions of flower parts and how they relate to the life cycle.

Sharks! Biology Video
Sharks are evolutionary advanced animals and are incredibly well adapted for their place in ocean ecosystems. In this video, differences between sharks and other fish are highlighted and celebrated. One such difference is in each group’s ability to control their vertical position in the water. Bony fish have a swim bladder that they can inflate and deflate to control their buoyancy. Sharks, on the other hand, must swim and control their depth with their fins. The included lesson looks at the basic biology of sharks and how sharks and bony fish control buoyancy.
