You still have time to watch a video of a live theatrical performance and write a review for the third quarter if you haven't.

Also I will be launching a Google Classroom for us so check back often to join the class.

In Theatre Arts 1 we talked about costume design and you got the chance to do a little designing of your own.

Here are a few videos featuring costume designers and their work.

    Set Design

In Theatre Arts 1 we talked briefly about set design and you got the chance to create a basic set design drawing.

There is much more to consider in a design.

    • Will it work for the production?
    • Does it fit the director’s needs?
    • What about the style of the design?
    • Is it the correct time period?
    • Should the walls be painted? Wallpapered? Stenciled?
    • What about color?
    • Does the color fit the mood?
    • What is the color of the set saying about the characters and the space they occupy?
    • Does the color work with the color of the costumes?
    • Is this the only set needed for the production or does it need sometime for another scene?

There is a lot to consider.

In a musical there are often many sets, many locations and they might need to change rapidly from one to another.

Below are a few videos featuring Broadway set designers and their work that I think might be of interest you.

  • Welcome to things to do at home for Theatre Production

Posted by Rich Tryzbiak on 3/25/2020

I will begin posting some things for you every few days so that you can keep your love of the theatre alive. I have been instructed that nothing I offer you at this time is to be a required assignment or is to be graded but I do hope that you will participate even if it is only for a diversion from what can become long boring days.

I am going to ask that you communicate with me through my school district email address rtryzbiak@eriesd.org rather than the gmail address I gave you at the beginning of the semester. It will just be better for me at this time.
