I am a National Board Certified Teacher, and I have been teaching at Collegiate Academy since 1999. I earned a BA in German and History from Allegheny College, a MA in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a MA in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. I have taught both Social Studies and German, but my primary concentration has been in history, government, and International Relations. I also have experience scoring essays at the AP World History national reading in all three categories: Document based Questions, Change over time, and Comparative essays.
Prior to teaching, I served on active duty in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot, and as a joint qualified staff officer in the Naval Reserves. I served in the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia, including during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007-8. I am an avid sailor and skier, and I am married with five children and three grand-children. Michigan and Penn State are my favorite college football teams, and I like the Steelers, Bills, and Browns, in that order. If any of those teams wins either a national championship or the Super Bowl, there is no final.
