Hello, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy, on this page you will find some free resources to help you support your Childs speech and language at home. In addition, please feel free to email me, I will have virtual "office hours" from 10:30-12:30 where you can reach me with any questions pertaining to your Childs individual speech IEP goals.
Just wanted to update you, by now you know we are using Google Classroom. For speech I will be assigning activities as a co-teacher through your Childs grade-level classrooms. As many families adjust to this period of quarantine and begin to get used to the “new normal,” it is important to start incorporating speech and language into the routine! The goal of therapy, after all, is generalization - and what better way to generalize these skills than by practicing outside of the speech room?! Check out these fun FREE activities to practice speech and language skills while at home.
Watching short, animated videos is an excellent way to work on a variety of speech and language skills while simultaneously keeping students engaged and motivated. Some ways these videos can be used too target goals include:
- Main idea
- Problem solving
- Grammar/ sentence structure
- Making inferences
- Perspective taking
Unite Books are short, colorful, and easy to understand with picture/text format and narration in home languages. New books and languages are added every month. Listen to narrations in more than 40 languages – great for dual language children and families!
Storyline Online streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Each book includes supplemental curriculum developed by a credentialed elementary educator, aiming to strengthen comprehension and verbal and written skills for English-language learners.
Every day includes four separate learning experiences, each built around a thrilling, meaningful story or video. Kids can do them on their own, with their families, or with their teachers. Just find your grade level and let the learning begin!
This site provides downloads for different speech sounds to address your Childs articulation needs
