Erie’s Public Schools Invites Input on Community Proposal to Rename Harding Elementary School
The Erie School Board has received a formal community proposal to consider renaming Harding Elementary School in honor of Colonel John Boyd, an Erie native and alumnus of Harding and Strong Vincent who became a distinguished U.S. Air Force officer, and one of the nation’s most influential strategists whose concepts have also been widely used in business strategy around the world.
NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE. In accordance with Board Policy 701.1, the district will hosted a public information session on Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Harding Elementary School to explain the process outlined in policy and share details about the proposal.
Community members, parents, staff, and alumni are invited to attend to learn more, provide feedback, and express interest in serving on the Naming Review Committee, which will be appointed to evaluate the proposal and gather community input in the months ahead before making a recommendation to the school board.
