Edison Elementary School
“Our School, Our Community, Our Kids!!!”
Welcome to the Edison Elementary School Website! We are located at 1921 East Lake Road in Erie, PA. Our school prides itself on hard work and determination. Our school is predicated on the belief that all students can learn and build lifelong skills that will help students be productive citizens in our community.
Our staff is very experienced, averaging about 18 years of experience per teacher. Each teacher has experience in all aspects of teaching and learning and has completed many of hours of professional development to hone their craft in order to be the best educator possible. As a staff we pride ourselves in using multiple teaching styles to match our diverse students’ unique learning styles.
Edison School offers many programs that help enhance our student’s learning. We have a GAPS program (Gaining Achievement and Performance by Students) that helps students who need to fill in the “gaps” and perform at a high level. We also have programs such as K- Kids (Kiwanis’s Kids) and CFES (College For Every Student) in which students are challenged to complete service work for the community, mentor younger students who aspire to become leaders in our community, and start to think about higher education. We have many programs that are run by community members as well as former teachers and administrators from our school and community.
Edison Elementary School is a wonderful place to nurture students aspiring to be productive citizens in the 21st century!

  • Edison School is committed to the belief that all children can learn and acknowledges that parents share in the school's commitment to the educational success of their children. Parents, teachers, and administrators are encouraged to keep the lines of communication open between home and school. We recognize that a child's education is a responsibility shared by the school and family and agree that to effectively educate all students, the school and parents must work together as partners. Parents are welcome to call, email, or write notes to teachers if there is a concern or question. We define parent and family involvement as an on-going process that assists parents and families to meet their basic obligation as their child's first educator. We will promote clear two-way dialogue between home and school and support parents as leaders and decision makers at all levels concerning the education of their children. We recognize the important role parents play in the academic lives of their children. In keeping in the guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act, parents and school staff will jointly develop the School Wide Parent Involvement Program. Appropriate offerings and practices will be implemented to enhance parent involvement activities and reflect the needs of the students and families. Edison's parent program will provide a guideline for designing quality and relevant experiences for students, families, and staff. The Parent Involvement Program will include a school-parent compact and support the development, implementation, and regular evaluation of the parent involvement program by parents. This policy was written after meeting with Edison Parents, teachers, and administrators.

It has come to my attention that there are many unsafe acts happening when parents are dropping off and picking up their children as they leave school. I would like to review and send home again this important announcement about dropping students off and picking them up at the end of the day.

    1.     STUDENT DROP OFF IN THE MORNING SHOULD NOT TAKE PLACE ON EAST LAKE ROAD. You can drop off your child on Bacon Street or wait until 8:00am to drop off at door number 3. We will be opening that door in the morning at 8:00am.

    2.     AT NO TIME ARE YOU ALLOWED TO LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED ON EAST LAKE ROAD FOR PICK UP OR ON BACON STREET FOR DROP OFF. We have had many complaints about people blocking traffic and almost hitting people when they are crossing the street. Please adhere to these safety policies.

    3.     PLEASE FOLLOW THE NO PARKING SIGNS. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PARK ON THE BUS SIDE OF BACON STREET WHEN THEY ARE PICKING UP THEIR CHILDREN. This is to alleviate the congestion on this street. If everyone is respectful of the process, we can all get out in a timely fashion.

If everyone follows these rules and guidelines, our parking lot and pick up will work smoother and everyone will be safe. I have contacted our district police department to assist with people who continue to break our rules.  Remember, WE ARE DOING THIS FOR ALL OF OUR KIDS SAFETY. Please adhere to these rules!

    Thank you!

    Mr. Harper and Mrs. Ganska
