We are excited to share that Grover Cleveland Elementary will be participating in a special fundraising effort in support of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. As part of this initiative, we will be hosting a school-wide Penny Wars leading up to our Mini-Relay for Life event (more info to follow)!
Penny Wars will begin this week and run through May 11th.
During this time, each classroom will work together to collect points and compete against other grade levels.
How Penny Wars Works:
Pennies = Positive Points: Each penny adds one point to your classroom’s total.
Silver Coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) = “Hits”: These coins are used to subtract points from other classrooms’ totals.
Strategy and teamwork are key!
The grade level with the most points at the end of Penny Wars will earn the honor of leading our Relay for Life walk.
In addition to Penny Wars, families will have the opportunity to participate in a meaningful tribute by dedicating a “Paw” in honor or memory of someone who has battled cancer. These names will be displayed in the school and recognized during our event.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together, show compassion, and make a difference while supporting an important cause.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students learn the value of giving back. If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to reach out.
