You can make a difference.
This September, during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Erie's Public Schools is reminding our whole community: a mental health crisis deserves the same response as any other emergency. You don't need to be a therapist — you just need to notice, reach out, and get help.
A.C.T. if you're worried about someone:
Ask — Start the conversation. Be direct, and listen without judgment.
Care — Show you care. Stay close and keep them connected.
Tell — Bring in a trusted adult or trained professional.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is always available: 📞 Call or text 988 — free, confidential, 24/7 📱 Safe2Say Something: 1-844-SAF2SAY ☎️ Erie Crisis Line: 814-456-2014 🏫 Talk to a school counselor, mental health specialist, or any trusted staff member
In immediate danger? Call 911.
Every student, every day. We're in this together. #SuicidePreventionMonth #EriesPublicSchools

EPS families,
Throughout the year, a number of school events, programs, and classroom lessons take place that are of interest to both school district media (cable channel, website, school newsletters, etc.) and regional print and broadcast media (newspapers, television, radio, etc.) During these activities, students and staff may be photographed or interviewed to increase public awareness of our school and/or individual student accomplishments. If you DO NOT want your children to be photographed, videotaped or interviewed, please complete and return the 2026-2027 Media Opt-Out Form available at your child’s school.
You can also find and print the form, available in English and other languages, at
https://www.eriesd.org/page/optoutThan k you!

We had a jam packed week of outstanding student accomplishments.
We awarded our first ever Reading Rockstars 📖🎸. These students had the highest scores among all students in their respective grade on the Middle of Year reading assessment. Students also received a T-shirt and $25 gift card to Werner Books. Not pictured is our top kindergartener Michael M. Congratulations to all of our Reading Rockstars. The next reading assessment will be at the end of the year.
📖Thank you to Werner Books for donating over 100 books to our Perry Page Turner Reading Club. We have a goal to send a book home with every student. This will get us closer to that goal. Thanks again!
➗We competed in the Math 24 tournament against 8 other community schools. Congrats to all of the Mathletes from every school for making us all proud.
🏀We ended the week competing in the first ever Erie Royals basketball tournament. What a great showing our Admirals made by bringing home the championship. Congratulations to all the schools and students for making it such a fun day.

Look for surveys to come home this week.
📯Title I family surveys have officially begun! Last year we returned 250 surveys. Can we beat that number? These surveys are a key factor in gathering input from families, effectiveness of academic and engagement activities, and determining federal funding.
Back by popular demand for 2026 are the rewards for classrooms who return the most surveys. 🎤🕺We have a karaoke dance party with Mr. Galloway with special surprises for students. Teachers will also receive a $50 gift card of their choice.

We participated in our first St. Patrick’s Day parade! Perry families braved the cold temperatures to show our school pride. Thank you to Rep. Bob Merski for the words of encouragement and taking a photo with us and United Way of Erie County for supporting the parade supplies.

626 pictures taken and 712 pictures printed. Perry Framing Families Week was spectacular! We are always looking for ways to include families in our school day. Thanks everyone for your support.
Family members were invited to join students during their library period to take pictures and design frames. Students also had the opportunity to take pictures with their school family and friends.
Special thank you to Rubber Ducky Balloon Designs for lending us their Photo Booth for a week. Be on the lookout for our next family week.

At the beginning of the school year. We set out on a goal to bring back the excitement of reading for students while involving our community. The goal? Have 100 community reader visits to our K-2 classrooms within the first 100 days of school.
📖 We are happy to report that we exceeded that goal and had over 200 reader visits in the first 100 days of school. Thank you to all of the readers who joined our Perry family. A very special thank you to Ms. Deb who made 54 visits and still joining us!
🌟To celebrate this achievement. Perry went Luau for Literacy 🌺 and invited our friend David Gorman - Author who gave a great presentation to the whole school and met with our 5th grade book club members. We also invited back past readers to thank them. And ended our night with a private Perry party at Splash Lagoon.
Please keep encouraging students to read at home for at least 20 minutes or more. Be on the lookout for our new reading goal.
