Hello Connell Families—
We would like to intrduce our new apprentice assistant principal, Joanna Polakowski!
Joanna writes, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining JoAnna Connell as your new Apprentice Assistant Principal! This marks my 16th year with Erie’s Public Schools, and I couldn’t be more excited for this new adventure. 💛
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of teaching grades K–5 in a variety of roles, most recently spending time with an amazing group of fourth graders at Perry. Each experience has shaped my love for learning, leadership, and supporting students as they grow.
I can’t wait to partner with our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families to help make Connell the very best it can be. It’s going to be a wonderful rest of the year, and I’m so happy to be on this journey together! ✨”
Let’s all take this time to welcome Joanna to our Connell Family!

🥰 Two classrooms, one amazing community 💛
During their daily Morning Meeting and Respectful Ways social-emotional learning time, these students in Mrs. Haffley & Mrs. Chludzinski’s class showed that teamwork really does make the dream work!
Today they collaborated to complete puzzles and design a classroom poster that captured their shared learning.
Along the way, they practiced so many important skills—communication, active listening, patience, problem-solving, flexibility, responsibility, encouragement, and compromise. They learned how to share ideas respectfully, divide tasks fairly, and support one another when challenges popped up.
We are so proud of the way these students worked together, lifted each other up, and proved that when we collaborate, we can accomplish great things! 🧩✨
