Markella Nacopoulos and Silvia Kang win Gannon University National High School Poetry Contest

Sophomore Markella Nacopoulos and freshman Silvia King won the Berwyn Moore Young Erie Poet Award in this year’s Gannon University National High School Poetry contest. The award is given to the two best submissions from Erie County residents. Congratulations!

Markella won for her poem “The Dance,” and Silvia for her poem "Hurt for Home."

Their certificate and prize will be presented at the annual Gannon Writing Awards Night on Thursday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Yehl Room of the Waldron Campus Center. The ceremony will feature a reading by distinguished author Lori Jakiela. This event is free and open to the public.
