Our Committed Cougars are officially ready to take over the 5th grade student leadership roles after participating in the United Way Annual Leadership Retreat at Penn State Behrend. These students enjoyed a day of motivational speakers and team building activities while meeting student leaders from all 17 of the United Way of Erie County community schools! A huge thank you to Mrs. Sestak and Mrs. Fromyer for being such great role models for our Committed Cougars! 💙💛🦁

Last week, our school welcomed some furry visitors — therapy dogs Summer Hope & Ellie! 🐾💙
Therapy dogs can have such a positive impact in self-contained classrooms, supporting students with special needs, behavioral challenges, and developmental differences through comfort, connection, and engagement.
Students in Miss Lachica, Miss Nietupski, Mrs. Savoia, and Mr. Breski’s classrooms spent part of their afternoon learning about the important services therapy dogs provide and enjoying time with the dogs themselves. Special thanks to Therapy Dogs United, Ellie & Summer Hope and their handlers for this special afternoon🐶

Meet Summer Hope 🐶☀️
Summer is a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs United! Alongside her handler, Susan, she recently spent time visiting our Kindergarten and 1st grade students here at Connell. The students loved the opportunity to interact with Summer and learn more about the important role therapy dogs play in supporting others.
Therapy dogs provide comfort, encouragement, and emotional support to individuals with a variety of specialized needs, and we are so thankful for Summer and Susan’s special visit! 💛

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚🧠
At our school, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard. We are committed to nurturing not only academic growth, but emotional well-being—because healthy minds help students thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Let’s continue to work together—educators, families, and community—to create a space where every student feels valued and empowered to share their voice.
Wear GREEN May 7th in support of national children’s mental health awareness day! 🎗️
