• Speech Fluency

Speech fluency is the ability to produce forward-flowing speech that is free of repetitions, blocks, or prolongations.  Disfluent speech is also called stuttering.  Although we don't know the exact causes of stuttering we do know that it can have a major negative impact on educational, social, and vocational success as well as on self-confidence.  During speech/language therapy we use fluency enhancing strategies to improve speech fluency.   These strategies include easy onsets, cancellations, slow-easy speech, down-shifting, and sing-songy speech.
