I wanted to touch base with you regarding the school cancellation and what you can do at home for your child. While at school your student was making progress in reading, writing and math. In an effort to continue this progress I am suggesting several enrichment opportunities that students can use from home.
Amplify Reading Students can log-in with their unique username and password (sent home from their regular education teacher) to participate in this exciting supplemental reading curriculum. The games in Amplify Reading provide students with the opportunity to practice and build proficiency in early literacy skills within an engaging story that rewards students for their efforts. Please encourage your child to visit this website every day! https://reading.amplify.com/
i-Ready Math Students can log-in with their unique username and password (sent home from their regular education teacher) to participate in this engaging digital instruction. Math instruction on i-Ready is based on students’ individual Diagnostic results. The program meets students where they are and allows them to work independently on their personalized Online Instruction plans. i-Ready will evaluate skills that students need additional support on as well as provide challenge and enrichment for skills students have mastered. Learning games are available on this website to provided engaging mathematics practice that strengthens understanding of mathematical concepts. Please encourage your child to participate in this great math enrichment opportunity every day! https://login.i-ready.com/
In addition to the great resources provided above, I am also suggesting students read and listen to stories every day. If students do not have copies of books at home, one great source is https://www.storylineonline.net/. Storyline online is an award-winning children’s literacy program. The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations.
Lastly, I will be keeping a journal each day that I will share with the students when we return. I would love it if students write a few sentences about their day or draw a picture to add to our journal. Once we are back together, we can share our pages and I will make copies for everyone to enjoy.
Please do not hesitate to contact me email@example.com. I will be checking my email several times each day and I can offer support or answer questions you may have. I will be adding additional learn at home opportunites under my class resources tab.
If your child has an annual IEP due in the months of April, May or June, I will be in contact by phone to conduct the IEP meeting. Please be sure the office has an updated phone number on file. If you need to update any contact information you can call the school office at 814-874-6485.
I hope everyone stays healthy and we are together again soon!
