Our students are the true co-authors of our next chapter at EPS.

Superintendent Dr. Natalyn Gibbs continued her Listening and Learning Engagement Sessions with middle and high school students recently, proving that we aren't building a legacy alone - we're building it with the voices of those who will inherit it. Thank you to all the courageous students who led with their voices, offering thoughtful, candid, and very necessary feedback. We're #BuildingExcellenceTogether!

❤️💚💛As we step into the last week of February, our students are learning about Social Studies and Political Science in honor of Black History Month. From powerful biographical reports and engaging PowerPoints to research, creative puppets of prominent figures, and meaningful conversations with African American leaders in our community, our students and teachers are engaging in important conversations. 🤝

A huge thank you to the schools who have already shared the incredible work they are doing this week: Strong Vincent Middle School, Grover Cleveland Elementary, A Community School, and McKinley Elementary School "Home of the Mariners"!

💜💛Erie High School Royals hosted a Career Fair today for students. This was a powerful opportunity for students to explore future pathways and connect with local professionals.

Partnerships like these play an important role in preparing our students for success. By bringing businesses and community organizations into the schools, we help students discover career options, build professional skills, and connect to professionals in our community.

Thank you to our partners for investing in our students' futures! Also, thank you to the amazing staff at Erie High for organizing this wonderful experience for our students!🎉

In honor of Black History Month, students at Grover Cleveland Elementary School are participating in a special Snack & Chat experience designed to inspire, educate, and connect.

The 4th and 5th-grade classrooms are welcoming African American leaders and professionals from our local community to share their personal journeys. Each week during Black History Month, students hear from new leaders and professionals.

This event is a wonderful way for our students to learn firsthand about perseverance, achievement, and the importance of community. Thank you, Ms. Dunston, for organizing this wonderful event for the students during Black History Month!

Ramadan February 17 - March 19.

This week, our students are focusing on Art and Music as part of our Black History Month celebration.

At Edison Elementary School, fifth graders in Ms. Jacobson’s class explored the achievements of past and present Grammy Award–winning African American artists. Students researched influential musicians, discovered fun and inspiring facts about their lives and accomplishments, and created posters to showcase what they learned.

This is just one example of the meaningful learning happening throughout our school during Black History Month. Be sure to check back on our website (eriesd.org/blackhistory) for more updates as more schools share what they're doing this week.
