Welcome to Mrs. Berquist's Webpage
Thank you for visiting my art room! Welcome, Grover Cleveland Cougars.Art Standards: https://www.nationalartsstandards.org/Examples of Grover Cleveland's art lessons:
4th grade: Underground Worlds---
LT: I can create patterns. I know a few facts about ants.
4th VA:Cr1.1.4a: Brainstorm multiple approaches to a creative art or design problem.
Students drew a normal above-ground with an imaginative world below, and filled in the surrounding area with simulated textural designs. Students are to create an underground tunnel system for ants. They are in all sorts of rooms doing ant things. Cooking. Sleeping. Reading. Primping. Using the potty. The kids don’t need to necessarily do ants. There were all sorts of critters doing funny things.
Crazy Hair Day LT: I understand how to create different lines. 3rd VA:Cr1.1.3a: Elaborate on an imaginative idea

2nd Grade DAY 1: primary and geometric
DAY 2: secondary and organic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niNDGStlff0 geometric and organic video
I can ID geometric and organic shapes. 2nd VA:Cr1.1.2a: Brainstorm collaboratively multiple approaches to an art or design problem.
2nd Grade Shape Collages
Discuss and learn: I gave them a "quiz". On the paper, I had them circle all the geometric shapes on the first question. On the second question, I asked them to circle the organic shapes. On the back, I had them list the primary and secondary colors.
For these collages, we talked a lot about having a variety of shapes in different sizes. Even though these are abstract, we talked about having a good composition: don't put all the same shapes next to each other, don't put the same color next to each other, have a variety of sizes and shapes, etc.
1st Grade: LT: I can cut a shape and create artwork with the shapes.
K : LT: I can trace and cut a circle. For all grades to keep busy:https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/hass-storytelling/storytelling-pixar-in-a-box/ah-piab-visual-language/v/visual-language
