    Dear Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten!  I look forward to a school year filled with learning, laughter, and love.  Let's work as a team to ensure your child's first year is a happy and skill filled experience.

    Dear Parents,

Due to the recent school closing, I sent home in your child's bookbag on Friday their reading and math usernames and passwords for continued practice.  They can spend up to 40 minutes a day on each the reading and the math.  Other great sites are abcmouse.com and mathjunglekindergarten.com.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  abcmouse.com is free due to school closings!

I gave the students a lined notebook that they can use for writing their kindergarten words, making a story (to keep up on their sounding out to make any words they want to write), and their addition and subtraction math equations.  I do encourage the students to read their "easy reader" books that they have brought home from school over the past 6 months.

School will resume on Monday, March 30, 2020 unless otherwise posted on the school's main web page.  Please take this time to wash your child's bookbag, coat, or other personal items. I will be checking my email daily so PLEASE if you need anything let me know.  This page will be updated so students who choose to continue their learning at home will have the best possible information on what to do on what day.

Take some of this time to play outside and get fresh air! Open your windows and enjoy the extra time you now have with your child(ren).

Reading to your child and listening to them read is an essential part to their school success.  If you're a little bored of your books at home then try out these two literacy sites:  www.storylineonliine.net and bookflixonline.  They are both award winning children's literacy websites.

Parents, please give my students a big bear hug and tell them I miss them a lot!!

Please email me with your questions.  I'd be happy to help any way I can at abayhurst@eriesd.org .

For updated infomation, go to the Erie Public Schools homepage.

    Thank you and stay healthy,

    Mrs. Bayhurst, Room 101

Thank you for supporting your child's education.
