So you made it through Google Classroom!!!! You do still have a couple of days left though. In these last few days, please make sure you are logging onto Amplify to work on reading assignments and IReady to do your math lessons. Some of you haven't been on these sites since we left school in March. They are the same passwords that you have used all year. There are also several virtual field trips in your Science Google Classroom that you should have visited last week. If you didn't view them yet, then those would be fun to check out in these last couple days. You could also be completing the Time Capsule in your Social Studies Google Classroom - You could print these out to share with your children and grandchildren someday about how you survived this bizarre time in history with Covid-19.
What a crazy ending to our 4th grade year boys and girls! I'm so glad that we've all been able to be at home so we know we're safe, but I am very sad that we never got to be together at the end of the year to say goodbye. I need everybody to STAY SAFE over the summer. Please be very careful when you are outside playing. Remember...
Watch out for cars!
Don't talk to strangers!
Stay apart when necessary!
Make smart choices...listen to that gut feeling if you think you should be doing something different.
Stay with friends!
Wear sunscreen so you don't get sunburned!
You guys better come and say hello to me next year when you are the 5th Grade LEADERS of McKinley Elementary School.
Lots of love and hugs to each of you. I have missed you so much these last couple of months.
Take care of yourselves, your families, and each other.
Lots of Love...Mrs. Wieser

Daily Student Agenda
Every day after your child finishes their assignments, they should be trying to log onto Amplify, I-Ready, and Smart Futures (activities 1-4) to work on either their pathway lessons or their teacher assigned lessons. I have also gone into the Readworks site and assigned about 20 stories for you to do (possibly a few each week - remember to submit your results to me).

PLEASE GO TO YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOMS AND SEE WHAT YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ARE FOR THIS WEEK. YOU HAVE ALL WEEK TO COMPLETE THESE SO DO A LITTLE AT AT IME - TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO YOUR BEST WORK!
Hello and Happy Monday. Welcome to a brand new week! Please know that I am missing each and everyone of you guys!!! I hope you are well and things are going ok. I know it is tough to be stuck inside, but I have a lot of family members that are in the medical field and they are working everyday to help every one of us and so many other people too. Remember, the biggest way we can all help all of them is to STAY INSIDE even if it is hard for us to do that! Today would be a fun day to practice some reading and math skills by preparing a recipe with an older sibling or an adult in your home. Hope it tastes delicious!

PLEASE GO TO YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOMS AND KEEP WORKING ON YOUR ASSIGNMENTS FOR THIS WEEK. TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO YOUR BEST WORK! BE SURE TO DO SOME OF YOUR ASSIGNMENTS EACH DAY.
Good morning and happy Tuesday. Try to make it a great day and do some nice deeds for another person in your house. Good day to read a book or watch a movie to compare it to a book that you have read or enjoy a little bit of outside time in the fresh air...remember, only if you are able to go out and not be around other people.

PLEASE GO TO YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOMS AND KEEP WORKING ON YOUR ASSIGNMENTS FOR THIS WEEK. TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO YOUR BEST WORK! MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING SOME WORK EACH DAY AND NOT LEAVING IT ALL TILL THE END OF THE WEEK.
Happy middle of the week. It is starting to get nice outside. You could go out and start a collection and write or draw about it. You could make a card for someone, write a letter, or draw/color a picture just because you care about them and it will make them smile! Remember, just because we are not in school you are all still McKinley Mariners and should be acting like Mariners and practicing your acts of kindness.

PLEASE GO TO YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOMS AND KEEP WORKING ON YOUR ASSIGNMENTS FOR THIS WEEK. TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO YOUR BEST WORK! DON'T FORGET THAT ALL OF YOUR WORK FOR THIS WEEK IS DUE TOMORROW.
Welcome to Thursday. Smile - it will make everybody else in your house smile too! Try to do some cleaning around your house today. Can you help out with some laundry? Clean your room? Dust or vacuum? Help with dinner? Pick up toys and papers? Wash and put away the dishes? If you do some of these things without being asked it will really make someone else's day! It would be nice to go outside and write some positive messaged on the sidewalk to make people smile and just feel good as they walk by!!!

Well, Happy Happy Friday to all!!!! Make it a wonderful day. Once you have finished your work for the day/week, this would be a fun day to play some cards or to play a board game - ha ha! You know Mrs. Wieser will tell you to get off of those computer games and to do something with the people in your house! Just spend time together in the quiet and enjoy your family.

Homework ~ You should expect that your child will have homework every Monday thru Thursday evening. Your child should be writing their homework down every day (they do have time in class) on their homework sheet and that MUST be signed by an adult in the home. When the homework is completed, it should be placed in their blue folder and right into their bookbag. This is great practice with responsibility and being prepared as a McKinley Mariner.
Once students are in 4th grade, basic addition and subtraction facts should be automatic. If your child is not fluent with adding/subtracting (meaning they can look at the problem and instantly tell you the answer...they don't have to "figure it out"), then please do them a huge favor and give them your time every day to practice. Fourth grade is when your child will be mastering multiplication/division facts as well. The only way your child will learn these facts is with follow up practice at home to reinforce all the work we are doing with them in school.
Reading ~ Reading ~ Reading ~ Reading
Parents, please - please - please make sure that you are encouraging your child to read every single day. You can't improve in an area if you don't practice that skill often. Reading doesn't have to be with just a book....they can read the newspaper, magazines, recipes, menus, board game directions, ingredients, newsletters and info that comes home regularly from the school, etc. Once your child has read, have them tell you about it so you can monitor that they are understanding what they are reading. Many families still have bedtime read aloud
time. Reading chapter books that are at a higher reading level than your child's oral reading level is a great idea since their listening/comprehension level is higher. Plus, this is such an awesome bonding time with your family!
Congratulations to these students for achieving first honors (All A's) for the this quarter of the school year!!!
These students did a fabulous job and achieved second honors (All A's and B's) for this quarter of the school year!!!
These students had perfect attendance for this quarter of the school year! That is a very impressive accomplishment and should be praised! Amazing job boys and girls!!!!!
Thank you for all that you do every day as parents and family members to make McKinley Elementary School a successful place for your child!
