Calculating Your GPA
- Look at your percentage grade for each of your classes.
- Using the chart on the right, write the grade point average for each class. Use half of that number for half-credit classes.
- Add all values.
- Divide by the total credits you are taking.
Here is an example for a ninth-grade student:
Class Percentage Credit Grade Point Average Ceramics 92 ½ 3.5/2 = 1.75 Piano 98 ½ 4.5/2 = 2.25 Chorus 97 1 4.5 Biology 93 1 4.0 Spanish 78 1 2.5 Algebra 91 1 3.4 Civics 81 1 2.5 Language Arts 93 1 4.0 Total 7 25.0 25/7 = 3.57
