• Green Team Participates in Adopt-A-Highway
Green Team On December 4, 2015, Green Team students braved the balmy winter weather to collect trash on West 38th Street as part of the Adopt-A-Highway Program. Many recyclable items were collected along with pieces of trash, particularly cigarette butts. The students carried a sign that stated, "Please don't throw cigarette butts on the ground." The team strives to educate the public on how littering can negatively impact our watershed. More than 75% of the storm drains do not transfer water to the Waste Water Treatment Plant and flow directly into Presque Isle Bay, having a detrimental effect on wildlife and water quality. Many passersby beeped their horns and thanked the students for their efforts.

The green team has collected garbage from their adopted street, 38th Street from Peach Street to Pine Avenue biannually since the fall of 2012. The trash has been collected from Peach Street to Pine Avenue. The team received many positive comments from passers-by which reinforced their commitment to having a positive impact on their local community.
