    Biomes

Biomes are different areas of our planet that are similar in their physical conditions, climate, and types of living things.

Visit the Boundless Biomes web site to read about biomes. Be sure to explore the nine different biome pages listed on the site and try the printable Biome Map Worksheet and Biome Matching Game Worksheet.

    Coronavirus

Students often ask me, "Why do we have to study biology?"

The short answer is, because we are living things, understanding how living things work helps us better understand ourselves.

In our current crisis, understanding how viruses work can help us make better decisions about how to react to the crisis.

The article "How Coronavirus Tests Actually Work" explains how we find out if someone is infected with the virus.  The PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test described in the article is a common step in DNA analysis that you will learn about next year in your Biology class.

     Climate Change

Highly recommended: "Climate Change: The Facts", a PBS presentation that explores the data on climate change, the potential impacts, and what we can do about it.
