• 5th Grade Social Studies

Grade 5 Social Studies curriculum and content is driven by the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards in Economics, Geography, History, Civics and Government. The elementary level of the standards describes what students in Grade 3 through Grade 8 should know and be able to do. At the Fifth Grade level students will continue a study of their neighborhoods, communities, city, state and nation. Examples of what students should know and be able to do are examine patterns of conflict and cooperation among groups and organizations that impacted the history and development of Pennsylvania, describe the characteristics of places and region, identify the effect of the physical systems on people within a community.
