  • PA State Legislature secures recurring funding for EPS

    ERIE, Pa (October 25, 2017) -- On Tuesday, October 24, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed HB674, which included $14 million in additional permanent aid for Erie's Public Schools. The Senate voted in favor of the measure on Monday, October 23. Erie's Public Schools is grateful for the efforts of the PA Legislature, Senator Dan Laughlin, Governor Tom Wolf, Reps.   • Visual and Performing Arts Academy takes hold at Collegiate

  • McKinley assistant principal receives state-recognized award

    ERIE, Pa (October 13, 2017) -- Amy L. Coleman, assistant principal at McKinley Elementary School, has been chosen as the 2017 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year by the Pennsylvania Principals Association, in conjunction with the National Outstanding Assistant Principal Award Program conducted by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.   • EPS creates Marine Maritime Academy

    ERIE, Pa (October 6, 2017) -- Erie's Public Schools is in early stages of creating a Marine Maritime Academy for high school students, with the help of the Niagra crew and the separate nonprofit Bayfront Maritime Center in Erie. The magnet school program, which would start for ninth-graders in the 2018-19 academic year, will offer courses on sailing and shipbuilding as well as the marine sciences, including marine biology.   • Entrepreneurship classes to launch in Erie schools

    ERIE, Pa (October 4, 2017) -- Beginning in January of 2018, EPS will offer entrepreneurship training courses to its seventh grade students, called the "Ice House Erie Entrepreneurship Training" pilot, which is funded by the United Way of Erie County, will be launched in partnership with IU5 and the Innovation Collaborative.   • Erie Royals sports attendance numbers high in early season

  • EPS welcomes students back for 2017-18 school year

    ERIE, Pa (August 29, 2017) -- After months of planning, Erie's Public Schools' massive reconfiguration was set into action on Monday, August 28.   • EPS launches 'Erie Strong' fundraising campaign

    ERIE, Pa (June 2, 2017) -- In an effort to raise many of the funds needed for the district's reorganization plan, EPS has launched the "Erie Strong" fundraising campaign, which will be run by the Partnership for Erie's Public Schools -- a 501(c)3 non-profit supporting the district. The fundraising goal is $1,000,000 to be used to help support ServErie's volunteer project at Central Tech this summer, school and district re-branding, updating the basketball court at Erie High School, updating the field colors at Veterans Stadium and purchasing new uniforms for all of Erie High School's sports teams and marching band.
