• Grade 8 Description


    The Literacy Design Collaborative strategy continues to support the shifts of Common Core State Standards in grade 8.  Three modules have been designed to help students utilize reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with complex informational texts and literary forms.  Two of the modules result in an informational essay and one module is crafted around an essay that is argumentative.  Skills needed for successful completion of the modules are carefully scaffolded, and a calendar of recommended pacing is provided.  Non-negotiables of the modules include the Teaching Task and Literacy Design Collaborative Scoring Rubric for the genre under consideration. All 'Scope and Sequence' documents and 'Teacher' and 'Student Resources' that support instruction in LDC can be found at the tab for ‘Resources - All Modules.' Under each numbered Module heading are ‘Materials/Texts’ and ‘Student Supports' for that specific Module.
