ERIE, Pa (March 22, 2017) -- After defeating Quaker Valley in the PIAA 4A semifinal game 73-64 on Tuesday, March 21, the SV boys basketball team moves on to the PIAA Class 4A championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. against nationally-ranked Imhotep Charter out of Philadelphia at Hershey's Giant Center in Hershey, PA. ERIE, Pa (March 16, 2017) -- On Wednesday March 15 at the Erie School Board meeting, more than 100 middle school students were recognized by the School Board for their record-breaking performance in the district's Middle School Talent Search program for 2015-16. The program recognizes middle school students who perform exceptionally well on the PSAT and SAT. Students with the best scores are eligible to attend the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Based on their 2015-16 scores, 24 students are eligible for the Johns Hopkins program -- more than three times as many who were eligible the year before. Read the full Erie Times-News story here.

ERIE, Pa (February 2, 2017) -- On Wednesday February 1, the School Board of the City of Erie unanimously appointed Chief Financial Officer Brian Polito as the new Superintendent effective July 1, 2017. ERIE, Pa (January 13, 2017) -- On Thursday, January 12, the Erie’s Kiwanis Foundation donated 1,000 books to Lincoln Elementary School’s library. The books were purchased through a donation from the Kiwanis Foundation to “Hooked on Books.” The foundation wanted to continue their community service with Lincoln after volunteering in July along with ServErie. ERIE, Pa (December 13, 2016) -- Erie's Public Schools will have three gardens planted at Edison Elementary, Harding and Wayne Schools this upcoming spring thanks to $20,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The gardens will have space to grow tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and other vegetables. In the past two years, six school gardens have been established at other district schools.
