Carla Johnson began her career with Erie's Public Schools in 1997. Before assuming her current position as chief executive officer of the Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School, Johnson most recently served as principal of Lincoln Elementary School. To Johnson, the school was much more than a collection of classrooms and offices.

It was, she always said, "The happy place where dreams come true." She believed that, and made sure her students did, too.

Under Johnson's leadership, Lincoln was named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School in 2020 in recognition of the school's progress in closing achievement gaps. Lincoln was one of only 367 schools nationwide to receive the award and the only school in northwestern Pennsylvania to receive the honor that year.
