Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
This course is for the advanced student who has previous experience playing a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument and who can read music at an advanced level. Students learn about and perform contemporary styles of music, classical transcriptions, marches, and standard concert band repertoire. Students learn scales, articulations, and basic music theory, and they work together through ensemble playing as well as sectional rehearsals. Wind Ensemble performs in two concerts throughout the year, graduation, and may be called upon for other occasions.
Prerequisites: Experience playing a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, and the ability to read music. A placement audition is required.
