LatinIsn’t Latin old and dead? Not at Collegiate Academy! We are one of very few programs at any level (middle school, high school, college, and graduate schools) that treat Latin as an actual language — we learn to speak in Latin! We treat Latin for what it is: a vibrant, beautiful, and fun language. Students learn to communicate in Latin on the first day of class, and, before you know it, you are expressing thoughts and emotions and asking questions in a language that has been spoken for over 2,000 years. In addition to language studies, we also look at the culture and history of both the Roman people and also their neighbors, such as the Greeks and Egyptians. We look at the art that everyday people created, as well as the archaeological remains that tell us how these people, who were just like you and me, lived. If you ever want to study the Romance languages (such as Spanish, French, and Italian) or German, you will have a head start because Latin is the foundation for all of these languages! In addition, we have borrowed many words and grammatical constructions into our own English language, so studying Latin builds a strong foundation in both vocabulary and grammar — crucial elements for success on the SAT, AP exams, college courses, and even job applications. Latin has been spoken/studied for thousands of years by people like Julius Caesar, St. Augustine, Dante, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Thomas Jefferson, Winston Churchill, J.K. Rowling, and Mindy Kaling. Now you have the chance to join this amazing club!Latin I#19501 CreditGrades 9, 10, 11, 12Latin II#19521 CreditGrades 10, 11, 12Latin III#19541 CreditGrades 10, 11, 12Latin IV#19561 CreditGrades 10, 11, 12Advanced Placement Latin Language#19581 CreditGrades 11, 12
